Part Waterpark And Part Recreation Area, Richardson’s Lake Is The Ultimate Summer Day Trip In South Carolina
Is it hot enough lately for you? What a question! Rhetorical or not, the question leads us to today’s topic: a water park in South Carolina designed to both cool you off and make you feel like a kid again. Located seven miles southwest of Aiken, Richardson’s Lake Water Park and Recreation Area is the perfect day trip for a hot summer day.
If you're expecting a ginormous and fancy modern water slide then keep on driving. You won't find that sort of fun here. Richardson's is old-fashioned in all the good ways.
It also has good family values. The park is filled with kids and adults alike and in the past, Richardson's has been known to boot people out for acting inappropriately. Family fun is the key here!
And there's certainly plenty of it to be had. Aside from the big lake where simply floating on a raft under the summer sun is fun enough, the water park features a number of slides appropriate for all ages. Even adults can play on the equipment. There's also a spring board for adding some real height to your cannonball efforts.
Over in the customer service area there's an indoor break room with seating, concessions, and rest rooms. Everything you'll need for a day of fun in the sun is right here at your fingertips. And those concessions don't cost a fortune either.
One really nice thing about Richardson's is they DO allow coolers and outside food. The only requirement is that you consume that food and drink outside the gates of the water park. And that point brings us to the next thing to love about this place:
Just outside the gates of the water park and only steps from the lake and parking area are covered picnic tables and grills!
Just know the shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you can't find an open shelter when you're ready to eat, you can always throw down a picnic blanket and still enjoy a nice lunch in a shady spot.
And then, of course, the alternative to the hassle of packing and bringing your own food is just to have lunch from the concession area inside the park.
Tables are available right by the lake for this purpose.
Ready for the ultimate summer road trip? Richardson’s Water Park and Recreation Area is already open for the summer. Check the website for this waterpark in South Carolina to find hours of operation and admission fees. By the way, Richardson’s slid into the 2022 summer swimming season with a 4.7-star rating from Google reviewers! That’s amazing.
