This Antique Theme Park In South Carolina Will Make You Long For The Good Old Days
When all else fails to make you feel like a kid again (which we all need once in a while), you can always count on a trip to Family Kingdom Amusement Park to rise to the challenge. Located on 37 scenic seaside acres along the Grand Strand, the park opened in 1966, when boomers were just arriving in newborn nurseries all over the Palmetto State. The fun park was brand new back then and was a staple for family entertainment back in the day. Today, the vintage park is still going strong and should be on your radar for taking a trip down memory lane.
For the mere cost of a single ride, you can throw your hands in the air and scream like a child again on one of the park's roller coasters.
That's right: Family Kingdom doesn't charge a park admission, like most amusements parks do. It's one of the few in the country that offer a pay as you go option where you can just buy one ride at a time.
But that's not all that makes this adventure so cool... several of the rides, including the Ferris wheel, push visitors high enough in the air to get sweeping views of the horizon on the Atlantic.
From toddler rides to thrill rides like the Thunderbolt, the Slingshot, and the Yo-yo (to name a few) the day is sure to be filled with lots of laughter.
Family Kingdom is open until 11 p.m. and on some weekends that stretches to midnight! (See the full schedule here).
Family Kingdom Amusement Park does not charge admission. Ride tickets can be purchased individually, or you can purchase an all-day ride pass. Check hours, ticket and ride pass costs, and learn more with a visit to the official website, here.
