Here Are 8 BBQ Joints in Philadelphia That Will Leave Your Mouth Watering Uncontrollably
Barbecue is my absolute favorite food. I’ll do just about anything for some great ribs or the type of pulled pork that melts in your mouth, and I’ve eaten enough cornbread that I might actually
be part cornbread. Perhaps that’s why I was so excited to create this list! I’ve eaten plenty of meals at each of these 8 restaurants, and I think you’ll agree that they all make some of the best BBQ in Philadelphia.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
1. Sweet Lucy's Smokehouse
Sweet Lucy's was doing BBQ in Philly before BBQ was cool. This legendary restaurant makes hands down the best mac and cheese you'll ever savor, and their ribs and collars are always made perfectly. A great meal is all but guaranteed at Sweet Lucy's.
Sweet Lucy's is located at 7500 State Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19136.
2. Fette Sau
Fette Sau is an interesting hole in the wall that serves up gigantic platters of fresh, smoked BBQ. Their homemade sausage, delicious brisket, and burnt-end beans are among the must-haves at this cozy BBQ shack. You'll also love their whiskey menu; it's impressive even by Philly's standards.
Fette Sau is located at 1208 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19125.
3. Baby Blues BBQ
Baby Blues is my go-to for BBQ in the city, and I think they make the best cornbread I've ever tasted. Their sides, sauces, and meats combine to make a dinner at Baby Blues pretty close to perfect, every single time.
Baby Blues is located at 3402 Sansom St., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
4. Deke's BBQ
Deke's is another classic Philly BBQ Place that offers takeout and counter service. They are well known for their barbecued wings, and that's what I get every time I go here. You won't find wings anywhere else that are smoked, flavored, and sauced up as well as Deke's.
Deke's BBQ is located at 4901 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19128.
5. The Rib Stand
This classic is located in Reading Terminal Market among the rest of the amazing Amish vendors. The Rib Stand’s spicy BBQ sauce is amazing, and you can order a platter of ribs, a boneless rib sandwich, or take home as many bones as you'd like.
The Rib Stand is located at 51 N. 12th. St. (Reading Terminal Market), Philadelphia, PA 19107
6. The Rib Rack
Rib Rack lives up to their name, and serves up some amazing ribs. Try a rib and chicken platter, because their chicken is always perfectly tender, juicy, and flavorful, and it pairs perfectly with a potato and their famous ribs.
The Rib Rack is located at 2100 Tyson Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19149.
7. Percy Street BBQ
Percy Street BBQ is breaking my heart this summer! This South Street location was a favorite, until they suffered some storm damage and had to temporarily close. They'll be back up and running in a few weeks, and then you'll be able to fill your plate and your belly with some of the best all-around BBQ in the city.
Percy Street BBQ is located at 900 South St., Philadelphia, PA 19147.
Percy Street BBQ is temporarily closed, with a reopening planned for Fall 2017
8. Smokin' Betty's
Smokin' Betty's has been around for a long time, and that experience has paid off. You can tell they know what they are doing. While this spot has become a huge hit with the burger loving crowd, their pulled pork and BBQ chicken sliders are still among the best barbecue sandwiches you can eat in Philly.
Smokin' Betty's is located at 116 S. 11th St., Philadelphia, PA 19107.
My mouth is watering just thinking about all of this BBQ! After stuffing your face with spicy BBQ, you might want to plan a trip to one of the best ice cream spots in Philly. Pick any of them along our
Philadelphia Ice Cream Trail for the best of the City of Brotherly Love.
