This Campground Near Hersheypark Is Perfect for a Pennsylvania Escape

Tucked in the woods just minutes from Hersheypark, this peaceful Pennsylvania campground offers cozy cabins, family-friendly amenities, and the perfect mix of outdoor adventure and small-town charm.

Traveling is an aspect of my lifestyle that I will always prioritize and budget for. That being said, the art of exploring new places does add up quickly. And that is why I am always thankful when a destination has lodging options available for every type of vacation experience. Take, for example, the Hersheypark Camping Resort, a secluded campground in Pennsylvania, where you can take in all of the sights, thrills, and smells of the iconic community of Hershey while still enjoying a woodsy nature escape. Let me tell you all about the area’s best-kept secret.

Where This Campground Is and How Close It Is to Hersheypark

The Hersheypark Camping Resort is located in the town of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, just five miles from the main attractions in Hershey. It offers guests a peaceful retreat, along with tons of great amenities and on-site activities. While the resort is really the ideal launching point for exploring everything in Hershey, a stay here is also a vacation in itself.

What makes this scenic spot one of the best campgrounds in Pennsylvania is not only its proximity to local attractions but also the ease of visiting them. The resort offers guests a complimentary seasonal shuttle bus to and from Hersheypark as well as a variety of packages, some of which include park admission. It really doesn't get any more convenient than this.

What to Expect When You Camp Here

One of the things that I love about the Hersheypark Camping Resort is that it offers a wide variety of accommodations. If you want a true camping experience, you can rent one of the tent sites that sit along the creek. Or for a less rustic stay, opt to sleep at one of the resort’s cabins (which come with amenities such as electric, heat, cooking utensils, air conditioning, televisions, and nearby bathrooms). You can also bring your own camper and hook up at one of the RV sites. And there is also a brand-new lodging option within the campground: two tiny homes. These unique houses, built by students at the Milton Hershey School, offer a comfortable, private stay for up to five guests.

When you are not out enjoying all that there is to do in Hershey, you will find plenty to keep you busy right here at the resort. The campground offers daily on-site family-friendly activities, including crafts, bingo, and movies. After a hot day riding the coasters, you can also cool off at one of two refreshing outdoor pools. There is also a playground and an indoor game room to enjoy.

Things to Do Nearby

Hershey is a special place that really has something for everyone (even those who don't love chocolate). The most popular attraction is Hersheypark, an outstanding amusement park full of thrilling rides, a seasonal waterpark, and an 11-acre zoo. But Hershey also has gorgeous botanical gardens, interactive museums, and lots of one-of-a-kind chocolate experiences. If you are looking for some pampering, head to The Spa at The Hotel Hershey, where you can indulge in several luxurious chocolate spa treatments. And don’t pass up an unforgettable sweet feast at the delicious Chocolatier restaurant. Just make sure to visit on an empty stomach.

Tips for Visiting

Hersheypark Camping Resort is open year-round, but if you are coming to town for the coasters and other amusement rides, you will want to book your stay in the warmer weather months when the park is in full operation. You can make your camping reservations through the Hersheypark Camping Resort website and find out additional information on the Hersheypark Camping Resort Facebook page. For even more outdoor fun in Pennsylvania, be sure to check out these breathtaking local waterfalls.
