Tourists Used To Flock To This Tiny Oregon Town To Experience Mysterious Vortex

Do you like mysterious places? You’re not alone. Tourists have been flocking to the strange and interesting Oregon Vortex to try to figure out what it’s all about since 1930. The Oregon Vortex is interesting. On the attraction's website, the vortex itself is described as "a spherical field of force, half above the ground and half below the ground." It says this vortex is a whirlpool of energy that is always spinning. Because of this force, mysterious things happen at this site.

The Oregon Vortex and The House of Mystery have been a popular attraction in Gold Hill, Oregon, since 1930. People have come from all over the state, nation, and world to witness the odd phenomena that occurs at the vortex.

This brochure was written in 1946. It describes some of the odd things that happen at the Oregon Vortex and why people believe these things happen.

Even before this was a tourist attraction, people noticed weird things happening. The House of Mystery was built in 1904; it was originally an assay office for nearby mines. In 1911 it slid off its foundation at a weird angle and has been that way ever since.

Strange, unnatural things happen inside the House of Mystery.

For example, visitors are able to stand at strange angles. Under normal circumstances, people would fall over if they attempted this position, but here they can do it with ease.

A broom can be made to stand up on its own here, too. You can also see a bottle roll uphill. It's all amazing to see.

Outside you can try some interesting experiments. As you can see, these two girls become closer in height when they switch places. How can that be?

These two people appear to be the same exact height when they change places. This can't be possible. But at the Oregon Vortex, it is!
