One of the oldest coffee houses in the city, Rimsky Korsakoffee House has been keeping Portland weird since 1980. Located on the first floor of a 100-year-old, allegedly haunted house, this cafe and dessert parlor is packed full of quirks, kitsch, and whimsy. Not only is the atmosphere unique – the dining experience here isn’t quite like any other.
While you enjoy your delicious dessert alongside a cup of tea or coffee, you may start to feel a strange sense of the uncanny. For example, you may be lost in a conversation, and then when you reach down to pick up your cup of coffee you’ll be surprised to see that the table has rotated, and your drink is suddenly all the way across the table. Or, as you’re watching a live musician play the piano, you may startle to see what looks like a ghost peering in through one of the windows. And then there’s the bathroom—well, that’s another story completely.
