If you've been looking for a trail that will simply blow you away, look no further than the stunning Arnold Rim Trail. This unique trail system has a little bit of everything, and accomplishing it is an adventure that just can't be beat.
Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near the town of Arnold, the non-motorized trail was specifically designed for giving hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians an unparalleled experience. Challenge yourself to complete the entire 17-miles in one go or break it up into smaller sections. Whatever you do, prepare to be amazed.
The trail is relatively new and aims to connect the numerous wonders that can be found along the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway. There's simply no dull moment on the trail. Gaze at the breathtaking vistas of the eastern slopes of the Sierras or meander along a coursing stream. The beauty doesn't stop.
There's even a magnificent waterfall— San Antonio Creek Falls—that's easily viewed from the trail. The 89-foot cascade is simply breathtaking and definitely a highlight of the Arnold Rim Trail.
Although the trail is quite lengthy, it's considered a moderately easy hike. The trail itself is well-maintained and the wide variety of forest landscapes provide plenty of shade. Whether you're the type of hiker that likes to take it easy or cover a lot of ground, you won't be disappointed.
The best thing about the trail is that it makes for an excellent adventure no matter what time of year it is. Enjoy lush greenery in spring and summer or the beauty of fall colors in autumn and snow-covered scenery in winter. There's never a bad time to check this hike off your list.
The trail makes it easier than ever to view some of the great natural beauty that this region of the state has to offer. Created as a collaboration between volunteer citizens, Calaveras County, and the US Forest Service, the trail was made with nature lovers in mind.
This incredible Northern California trail can be accessed through a variety of destinations, including the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, Valley View Road, and Avery Sheep Ranch Road.
