We all know that daffodils and cherry blossoms are two of the earliest signs of spring in New Jersey, but tulips are right behind them! Here in the Garden State, we’re lucky to be home to the country’s largest u-pick flower farm, and one of the biggest tulip festivals outside of the Netherlands. Holland Ridge Farms is known for one of the biggest tulip fields outside of Europe, and the entire farm becomes a massive festival while the fields are in bloom. The opening date depends on the tulips, but it generally takes place in early April until the flowers are gone. We think it’s one of the best spring festivals in New Jersey, and one look at these fields makes clear why.

What Are The Best Farm Adventures In New Jersey?

Just like Holland Ridge Farms, each of these rustic destinations has a time of year when the farm shines brightest.

  • Lusscroft Farm is a beautiful dairy farm with a long history and some stunning architecture, but it's the farm's maple syrup production that really puts it on the map. That makes it an all-season destination, as winter is a boom time for the sweet syrup. You can visit the farm for demonstrations of maple sugaring techniques, shop the holiday market when it opens, and explore the surrounding trails - before leaving with a bag full of maple goodies from the store!
  • Red Wagon Farm might just be the king of Halloween - this massive pumpkin patch is the state's largest, and you can find a great selection of pumpkins, gourds, and squashes to create the perfect holiday decorations. But that's just the beginning - the fall season here has a petting zoo, hayrides, and a concessions stand to make it a great day trip. Even better? Admission to the farm is completely free at all times!
  • Source Farmhouse Brewing is the only farm brewery in New Jersey, but this out-of-the-way destination is well worth the trip for beer lovers. The specialty is craft beer, all made on-site in the spacious farmhouse. About 16 beers are on tap at all times, and the brewery has a charming outdoor patio where you can sip, play games, and catch up with friends. There's nothing better than a beer with the backing of beautiful New Jersey nature.
