11 Places In New Jersey Where You’re Most Likely To Spot A Celebrity
New Jersey offers numerous spots for celebrity sightings, from airports to concert venues and upscale hotels.
Though New Jerseyans may not have as many celebrity sightings as our neighbors in New York, we do offer our fair share of places for star spotting. Many celebrities were born or currently live in New Jersey, while many others come to visit. We do have a lot to offer! Following are some of the places in our state where you're most likely to rub elbows with famous folks. I'm starting with the most obvious options and ending the article with a few places that may surprise you!
1. Newark International Airport, Newark
Nearly all of of your favorite celebrities have been spotted here at least once. It would take paragraphs to list all of the celebrity sightings over the past few months, but stars spotted recently include Snoop Dogg, Peter Dinklage, Al Sharpton, George Lucas, Terry Bradshaw, Fred Armisen, Shailene Woodley, Andy Roddick, Christiano Ronaldo and the boys from One Direction!
2. The Stone Pony, Asbury Park
This small concert venue brings in some big names - both on stage and in the crowd. Bruce Springsteen is a regular and recently hopped on stage to perform a surprise set!
3. Met Life Stadium, East Rutherford
Home to both concerts and professional sporting events of all kinds, this massive venue attracts the A-listers. Besides the obvious option of paying to see someone perform, you'll be siting alongside stars if you have good seats!
4. The Prudential Center, Newark
Another major sporting/concert venue, celebrities are often spotted here - both performing and in the crowd.
5. PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel
Though you're less likely to find athletes and actors here, you'll still be able to enjoy incredible outdoor concerts by big bands with big name fans! I've seen several shows here and spotted many celebrities in the crowd.
6. The Wellmont Theater, Montclair
This smaller venue hosts everyone from indie rockers to well known comedians. Since shows are smaller, you're more likely to get up close with the stars on stage - and in the crowd! The Wellmont also hosts the Montclair Film Festival which has been known to bring in some big names.
7. The W Hotel, Hoboken
With incredible views like this, why wouldn't celebrities staying in our area head to the W? Many do, making it a great place for star spotting. Shannon Doherty, Jamie Foxx, Puff Daddy/Diddy, Audrina Partridge and the cast of Real Housewives of New Jersey have been seen here, among others.
8. Hyatt Regency, Jersey City
Another swanky hotel with easy access to NYC, many athletes and musicians performing in the area stay here.
9. Anywhere in Atlantic City
Really, almost anywhere! While AC might not seem like a major deal to us, it is a top tourist destination. Celebrities can be spotted all over the city, whether there to perform or vacation like us. Your best bets for star sightings are the casinos and upscale restaurants. Harrah's, Trump Taj Mahal and Bobby Flay's Steakhouse at the Borgata will give you the highest odds, and AC is all about the odds!
10. Along the Navesink River, Red Bank/Middletown
The massive mansions along the Navesink are home to stars including Bon Jovi, Blondie and Jon Stewart, among others.
11. Cape May
This beautiful beach town is a popular vacation destination for celebs including Anne Hathaway, Brooke Shields, Joe Pepitone and Tina Fey. Spot them along the shore or in downtown's shopping district.
Have you spotted a celebrity at any of these locations? Maybe you've seen one at Seaside or NJPAC? Share your experiences, along with any other celebrity hot spots I might have missed.
