7 Gorgeous Beaches In New Jersey That You Must Check Out This Summer

When people think of New Jersey beaches, all too often Seaside Heights comes to mind. This is thanks in part to the popularity of the infamous MTV "reality" show Jersey Shore, which was filmed in the city. While Seaside Heights is charming in its own right, New Jersey has over 100 miles of coastline and dozens of beautiful beaches. Following are 7 scenic seashores in the state to suit every taste. Try saying that out loud three times, or better yet, try visiting all 7 this summer.

1. Atlantic City

Currently home to the only casinos in the state, Atlantic City is also known for its beautiful free beaches, a rarity in the state.

2. Cape May

Cape May has so much to offer, from gorgeous beaches to historic homes and inns. One of America's first resort towns, the entire city has been declared a National Historic Landmark.

3. The Wildwoods

This beautiful beach town has a retro vibe and even offers a vintage arcade with one of the world's largest retro game collections.

4. Island Beach State Park

A paradise for nature lovers, this undeveloped beach is a haven for the Red Fox. It is also one of the few well preserved barrier islands in the United States.

5. Long Branch

One of the closest beaches to North Jersey, Long Branch has been recently renovated and features several high-end shops and restaurants.

6. Ocean City

Though not as famous as its Maryland counterpart, Ocean City, New Jersey is still a stunning family friendly resort town.
