You’ll Want To Visit These 4 Beaches For The Most Beautiful New Hampshire Sea Glass
Discover the best rocky beaches in New Hampshire for sea glass hunting.
We're truly blessed to live by the sea in New Hampshire – even if it is technically the shortest coastline in the nation, we enjoy every inch of it. One of the most delightful parts of a trip to the beach is sea glass hunting – every piece of smoothed over glass has a history, and the process of searching for them is so soothing. Of course, that means that the main New Hampshire beaches, crowded as they are with sunbathers lying out on the sand, are not the best spots for beach combing. Instead, you'll want to head to the rockier, less busy spots. Here are our favorite places to look for seaside treasures.
1. Wallis Sands State Beach, Rye
This state beach is absolutely stunning, whether you're looking to spend a day in the sun or to take an evening stroll along the shore. It has some wonderful sandy sections, but you'll want to stick to the rocky areas for the best chances of finding seaglass.
2. Jenness State Beach, Rye
Another lovely state beach, Jenness is actually home to fossilized trees that are visible when storms cause extremely low tides. You'll find all sorts of other good stuff here – a lot of the beach is sandy, but keep an eye on the tide patterns and come looking when the water has swept out to sea and left treasures behind.
3. Great Island Common, New Castle
This gorgeous New Castle spot is a true gem – pack a meal to bring with you, because it's a perfect place for a picnic (and you'll need some nourishment to keep at the sea glass hunting!).
4. North Hampton State Park, North Hampton
Just a bit up the street from the madness of Hampton Beach you'll find this lovely respite from the crowds. It's rocky in parts, but that makes it all the better for sea glass collecting.
