New Hampshire’s Scenic Waterfall Loop Will Take You To 9 Different Waterfalls
Driving through New Hampshire on a beautiful day is its very own activity. Gather a friend or two, hop in the car and follow some of the most scenic roads to see some of the state’s best natural features. The best part is that this journey can be made in just one day. Or, if you have some extra time you can spread things out to make for a weekend trip. The driving portion is relatively short so you’ll be able to maximize your time outside, too.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

We begin our journey at one o the most wonderful state parks in New Hampshire. This is a great place to meet friends who took multiple cars so you can all take just one. And, of course, stop and enjoy some of the many waterfalls here including Basin Falls, Cloudland and Swiftwater.

One of the most fun parts of this waterfall is the hike to go see it. Starting out behind the Crawford Depot, the old train station right next to the Appalachian Mountain Club, you can begin your route by enjoying some history. Then, continue on the trail to see the stunning 25-foot waterfall.

This is a great place to get out and stretch those legs. Located in one of the most beautiful parts of the state, seeing this waterfall will take a little bit of effort. The hike is about 2.5-miles and it leads through some beautiful woods. And the payoff is the falls!

The highest single-drop waterfall in New Hampshire, might also be the most well-known. You've probably seen photos of this one in every different season, but we love it most in the summer. The water is flowing, the sun is out and this waterfall simply shines!

Especially beautiful in the fall, this waterfall will be a welcome relief for folks who don't feel like hiking. You can see this one practically from the road, making it a great place to stop and enjoy a quick picnic or some snacks along the way.

This 65-footer is one of our favorites. And many consider it to be one of the most beautiful in the state! Now that your legs have had a bit of a rest, you can begin to get moving again. Luckily, the trail to see this will only take you about 10-minutes.

Another one of the most well-known natural wonders in the state, Diana's Baths makes for a great day trip all on its own. The pools and falls are fun for kids to splash around in and the smooth rocks are fascinating to see.

The next portion of our road trip takes us on the most lovely roadway in the Kancamagus Highway! The waterfalls along the Swift River can be found here and there are tons to enjoy.

And last up is another New Hampshire beauty. Easy-to-access and absolutely beautiful, this one will let you reflect on a beautiful drive around the state!
Once you've taken it all in follow the directions here to get back to 1-93, or straight back to your starting point at Franconia Notch State Park!
