The incredible vibrant colors found in the geothermal springs are caused by minerals and microorganisms in the water.
The water is heated deep below the surface, so these superheated springs stay hot year round, producing tons of steam in the cold winter months.
Several major rivers have carved additional amazing features through the park, including the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
There are 290 waterfalls greater than 15 feet tall within park boundaries. You can hike to so many of them. The trails that will lead you to these waterfalls are some of the best hiking trails in Wyoming.
The largest plunge falls, Lower Yellowstone Falls, drops 308 feet.
