Fall may be just beginning, but the Farmers Almanac has already released its weather predictions for winter. And unfortunately, it looks like Wisconsin is in for a doozy. Read on for all the chilling deets.
Wisconsin winters aren’t exactly mild; however, according to the Farmers Almanac’s recent predictions, this winter will be one for the books, so get ready to bundle up.
It’s even being called a Polar Coaster since the season will be filled with lots of ups and downs as far as a thermometer is concerned.
It’s not just Wisconsin, though. A majority of the US, from east of the Rockies all the way to the Appalachians, is expected to experience bitterly cold temperatures.
And while most of the nation can expect colder temps, Wisconsin will experience some of the most frigid. In fact, Wisconsinites can expect colder-than-normal temperatures for a majority of the winter season.
In addition to colder temperatures, the almanac predicts above-normal snowfall in a majority of the country, including Wisconsin.
Luckily, the worst of the winter weather isn’t set to begin until the end of January. Furthermore, it should only last until the beginning of February.
Although, the first half of January (4th – 7th and 12th – 15th) might night be too comfortable, as lots of precipitation in the form of snow, sleet, and ice is predicted. Also, gusty winds are likely during this time.
What’s more, the colder-than-normal winter means a late start to spring. Wintry weather could possibly last until April.
Don’t want to believe the predictions? Unfortunately, the Farmers Almanac’s predictions are spot on 80% - 85% of the time.
