The Easy Loop Trail In Washington That Will Make You Feel Like You’ve Entered Another World

Embark on an alpine adventure on this 3.5-mile loop inside Mount Rainier National Park.

Visitors must have a permit to enter Mount Rainier National Park and always follow the rule to leave no trace behind. In other words, if you pack it in, please pack it back out.

Generally considered an easy to moderate trek, visitors should be prepared for changing weather conditions.

Although the loop takes just over 90 minutes to complete on average, you'll want plenty of extra time to stop and take in the view.

We recommend following the clockwise loop beginning at Tipsoo Lake for the most stunning views of Mount Rainier.

Hikers will encounter a 636-foot elevation gain along the way.

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and have an ample supply of water.

Be prepared for some steep areas and rocky terrain as the trail winds through peaceful alpine meadows.

Abundant wildflowers are best viewed during July and August when the trail comes alive with colorful blooms. A rainbow of lupine, magenta paintbrush, glacier lily, and alpine aster blanket the meadows providing breathtaking photo opportunities.

As with any mountainous hike, roads leading to the trailhead are subject to seasonal closures.
