Today, we'll introduce you to one of the most picturesque trails in the state with views that will make you feel as though you've arrived to the top of the world. Sharp Top Mountain can be found just outside of Bedford and offers unforgettable mountain views. Let's take a look:

Sharp Top Trail is a rather strenuous 2.6-mile trail, but rest assured, the views from the top are well worth the effort.

This well-maintained trail offers a quick and total escape into the beautiful natural landscape of Peaks of Otter.

Because the trail can become a bit crowded during the summer, the best time to venture out is during the weekday.

As you approach the top, you'll notice the beautifully-designed overlook that offers an exquisite view of the surrounding Bedford County.

Signage along the way offers a unique insight into the mountain's history. At one time, this peak was considered to be the highest in Virginia. Given the sweeping mountain views, it's not difficult to see why.

For a real treat, you can summit the peak just before sunrise to watch the sky transform in all sorts of splendid colors. Just be sure to keep in mind that it takes approximately one hour to return to the parking area from the top.

Of course, you'll want plenty of time to relish the 360-degree views available at the top. Don't forget your camera!
