An afternoon at the park is one of life's simplest pleasures. There is an element of rejuvenation in the sunlight, and the beauty of a great blue sky stretching above you is unlike anything else. Of course, if you're looking to up the ante on a classic playground-and-picnic-pavilion park situation, then you may want to spend the day at a waterfront park. You will find McGregor Park on the river in Tennessee, in the town of Clarksville. Unlike any other in the area, this gorgeous and expansive gathering space remains one of the prettiest parks in the state.
McGregor Park is a popular spot for middle Tennessee residents, and the riverfront recreation area is found in the town of Clarksville. Located roughly an hour northwest of Nashville, Clarksville is known as a stalwart spot that plays host to young families and the Fort Campbell military base. The park is located in the River District and is a great place for walking, running, or just a moment spent outside.
The multi-acre park has a myriad of amenities including a playground, picnic area, and a BCycle Station. The playground is ADA accessible and welcoming to everyone. There are restrooms on-site, and even a protected walking trail.
McGregor Park provides easy access to the Cumberland River and there is even a boat ramp for your use. Your little ones will get a kick out of the beauty of the water, and visitors gather near the riverfront for photographs and picnic lunches.
The walking trail is paved so you can bring a stroller or a wheelchair with ease. You don’t want to miss those views! It’s almost shocking that the Cumberland River is so accessible in the middle of the city.
The River Flows Museum at McGregor Park is open daily from April to October and November to March. Inside you will learn all about Clarksville’s river history, which is more fascinating than many would give it credit for. The museum is small and to-the-point, consisting of 12 graphic panels that examine local history.
