Fruit picking season is the best and we can't wait to visit these four you-pick farms in South Dakota.

1. Sanderson Gardens: 47657 US-14, Aurora, SD 57002

We love Sanderson Gardens' tagline: "new food at used prices." Can't beat that, can you? This place has been a South Dakota tradition since 1977.

The 30-acre farm is filled with u-pick delights no matter the season. Raspberries, horseradishes, asparagus, pumpkins: you can find it all here. And it's one of the best places for strawberry picking in South Dakota! You can typically find u-pick food available from May through October.

2. Country Apple Orchard: 27249 SD-115, Harrisburg, SD 57032

The Country Apple Orchard is a massive orchard founded in 1984. The place houses a whopping 6,000 apple trees of a multitude of varieties. You can find Cortland, Sweet Sixteen, Honey Gold, and more.

The farm's fall festival is always a blast for the whole family. U-pick apples and pumpkins are great, but there's also events for kids like massive jumping pillows, a petting zoo, corn pit, and more. Adults will love the cider beer garden. This is one apple orchard you won't want to miss!

3. Springerridge Barnyard Products (Gettysburg)

4. That Pickin Patch: 45472 268th St, Parker, SD 57053

We gotta say, the absolute best pumpkin patch in South Dakota for both self-serve and pre-picked pumpkins has got to be That Pickin Patch.

5. Getting's Garden: 2861 Pierce Ave, Sanborn, IA 51248

We know that Getting's is technically in Iowa, it still deserves to round out this list. After all, the farm advertises itself as the "perfect place for u-pick strawberries near Sioux City and Sioux Falls."

This place is home to countless strawberries and a huge selection of homemade jams, local honey, and salsa. One recent addition is the massive playground that's sure to keep even the youngest members of your family entertained!
