The weather will soon cough up a perfect day for hiking and we can't recommend a better trail suitable for a leisurely hike than the Scenic Shoreline Trail found along the shores of Lake Greenwood.

Gas up the car, load up the essentials and head to Ninety Six, South Carolina, for an outdoor adventure you're sure to love.

Created in the 1930s when the Buzzards Roost Project spearheaded a hydroelectric facility to provide power to the local area, Lake Greenwood has 212 miles of shoreline coupled with 11,400 acres of water surface.

You can thank the Saluda River, Reedy River, and Rabon Creek for keeping this beautiful body of water supplied with a constant influx of crystal-clear h2o.

As for access to Lake Greenwood, there's no better place to take it all in than at Lake Greenwood State Park in Ninety Six, South Carolina.

The park's lakeside 914 acres dole out unlimited access to places to drop a line to fish, launch a boat (the park has two boat ramps), camp, and swim. Plus a couple of trails create adventures through the forest and along the water. The 4.4-mile looped Scenic Shoreline Trail is the favorite for its views of the water and slow paced fun.

A trail map is found along the trail, making it super easy to stay on course. Most people want to follow the wooded portion of the trail first.

This means going left at the trailhead for approximately a mile before the trail turns toward the water and then follows the shoreline for the remainder of the hike.

Appropriately named, the Scenic Shoreline Trail offers plenty of places to sit and relax, should you want to extend your hike.

There are even places for your four-legged buddy to pop in the water and cool off.
