The Natural Wonder In Pennsylvania That Becomes Even More Enchanting In The Wintertime

Snow often transforms the landscape into a winter wonderland that leaves us in awe. Even if we're not a fan of the cold and ice that usually accompanies snow, we'd be hard-pressed to deny that Pennsylvania during the winter, and particularly after it snows, is simply breathtaking. If you're up for an adventure, slip on your hiking boots, bundle up, and get ready to stroll to this beautiful natural wonder in Delaware Township, Pennsylvania this winter.

A visit to Dingmans Falls presents a bit more of a challenge during the winter than it does the rest of the year, but the effort is well-rewarded with some of the prettiest winter scenery in Pennsylvania.

Unlike during the warmer months, the Dingmans Falls Visitor Center is closed during the winter as is the road leading to the trail that will take you to the gorgeous cascade.

While the road to the trail may be closed to vehicles, it remains open to pedestrians.

The trail to Dingmans Falls tallies just .04 of a mile one-way. Earning an easy rating, the picturesque path passes two waterfalls - Silverthread Falls and Dingman Falls.

Dingmans Creek Trail is typically accessible to both wheelchairs and strollers, although snow and ice may make it difficult, or impossible, during the winter.

You'll travel along a boardwalk - from which you'll be treated to spectacular views of both Silverthread and Dingmans Falls - for the first .03 of a mile.

While the path gets congested during the warmer months, it is usually much quieter in the winter.

If you're up for a challenge, tackle the final .01-mile, stairs that lead to the top of Dingmans Falls.

The stairs are steep and may be snowy and icy. Make sure you're careful and wear sturdy shoes.

Don't worry about getting tired along the way. You'll find several benches along the path, if you need to take a breather.

Find more information about road closures, and more, on the official National Park Service website.
