Texter Mountain Nature Preserve Is A Magical Place In Pennsylvania That You Thought Only Existed In Your Dreams

Texter Mountain Nature Preserve in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, offers a fairy tale-like hiking experience with its scenic loop trail and diverse natural beauty.

Do you ever gaze at the drawings in a fairy tale and wonder if such places really exist anywhere but in our imaginations? They sure do! With its forests, state parks, and nature preserves, Pennsylvania boasts so much gorgeous natural landscapes. A magical place in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, Texter Mountain Nature Preserve could easily have fallen from the pages of a childhood storybook.

Although it covers just 122 acres, Texter Mountain Nature Preserve packs a whole lot of natural beauty into a relatively small space, and it's a must-visit in all four seasons.

Nestled in the Pennsylvania Highlands, this cozy nature preserve is home to Texter Mountain. At 1,180 feet above sea level, the mountain is Lancaster County's highest point.

The best way to explore the Pennsylvania nature preserve is on the lone loop trail, a moderate path that meanders two miles.

While you'll need at least an hour to follow this picturesque path, you might want to allot more time to stop and soak up the natural beauty surrounding you.

Before you set off, though, make sure you have a pair of sturdy hiking shoes. The Pennsylvania trail scores a moderate rating because of loose rocks and some elevation changes.

You'll cross several streams and creeks, too, so you might want to make sure your shoes are waterproof or you don't mind getting them wet.

Some hikers recommend using walking sticks, which can help with the rocky terrain.

As you pass under a canopy of trees, you may notice that it is a bit buggy. The bugs come out in full force during the warmer months; wear and bring bug spray.

Stroll through the fairy tale scenery, passing colorful wildflowers, mushrooms, and such tree species as birch, hickory, and beech.

While the trail is most popular from spring through fall, if you're searching for a bit of solitude, visit in the winter, especially after a fresh snowfall.
