Enjoy A Scenic Stroll On A Little-Known Path That Meanders Through A Forest In Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania was made for exploring. Whether we're avid hikers with years of experience or simply want to explore new areas on a leisurely stroll, we'll find the perfect adventure, usually not too far from home. Since there are so many hiking trails, more than 650, we're sure to uncover quite a few that are new to us - like this hiking path in White Haven, Pennsylvania.

Chances are pretty good, if you're an avid explorer, that you've at least heard of Hickory Run State Park in White Haven. It's home to Boulder Field, a National Natural Landmark.

More than 20,000 years old, Boulder Field is exactly what it sounds like - a field of boulders, some measuring as long as 26 feet.

But you may not have heard of Skyline Trail, an easy path that boasts striking views, including of the Lehigh River.

Hickory Run State Park features a full menu of activities, including hiking, disc golf, picnicking, swimming, and wildlife watching. Cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowmobiling are popular in the winter.

The 3.4-mile loop trail, which usually takes around 90 minutes to hike, earns an easy rating, but there are some challenges along the way.

Leashed dogs are permitted on the trail; just remember to clean up after your pup.

Wear a pair of sturdy shoes as you'll deal with some rocky terrain and roots jutting out of the ground. The trail can get muddy after it rains and in the winter, so keep that in mind before setting off.

Meander through trees and past meadows.

You'll even stumble upon a few surprises, including unique rock formations.

One of the highlights of the trail is, undeniably, the view of the gorge that's simply breathtaking in each season.

Don't forget your camera, or make sure your smartphone is charged. An abundance of photo-worthy moments await on this pretty path.

If you're not in a hurry, bring a picnic along. Can you think of a better way to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal than overlooking the river?

Remember to follow the pack it in, pack it out philosophy of hiking. Whatever you bring with you - water bottles, bags, etc. - take back to your vehicle.
