Go leaf-peeping in Pennsylvania, then dig into a delicious meal at Brown’s Country Kitchen for a picture-perfect fall day.
Don’t forget your camera for your autumn journey that will take you to two Western Pennsylvania state parks – McConnells Mill State Park and Moraine State Park – both of which offer stunning views of the fall foliage.
Start at either park, as the two sit just 10 minutes apart from each other in Portersville. McConnells Mill makes viewing the fall foliage easy. You won’t have far to walk, for example, to admire the historic covered bridge and mill, both flanked in the colors of fall.
If you’ve got time, breathe in the crisp, fresh air on one of the trails that wind through the popular state park. For an easy trek, follow the .05-mile Hells Hollow Trail.
For a real challenge, follow the 6.2-mile Slippery Rock Gorge Trail. It’s considered more difficult but boasts spellbinding views of the fall foliage.
Just 10 minutes from McConnells Mill State Park, Moraine State Park offers sensational views of the fall foliage, particularly as it frames the iconic Lake Arthur. You might want to rent a kayak or a boat to take to the water to admire the fall colors.
If you’re up for another hike, you have several trails from which to choose. Five Points Trail, for example, meanders 1.3 miles through a forested area. It’s an easy hike that promises gorgeous views.
With all of that hiking and leaf-peeping, you’ve likely worked up an appetite. Slip behind the wheel for the five-minute drive to Brown’s Country Kitchen, a popular restaurant that dishes up some of the best food in the area.
The cozy diner serves a variety of popular breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes – from omelets and Belgian waffles to fried chicken and gyros. Couple your entree with a thick milkshake for a memorable meal.
