Escape To Latodami Nature Center For A Beautiful Pittsburgh Nature Scene

Latodami Nature Center in Pittsburgh offers a scenic escape with trails, wildlife, and year-round events.

City life can be so much fun, especially when there's a lot going on all at once. However, we all need time away from the busyness and the excitement of big city life. With its many green spaces and nearby nature areas, Pittsburgh makes it easy to escape to nature without journeying too far from home. Latodami Nature Center in Pittsburgh, for example, provides a picture-perfect backdrop for a few hours, or an entire day, exploring  nature.

Just 13 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, Latodami Nature Center sprawls across 250 scenic acres, dotted with fields, wetlands, and a pond.

It's an ideal destination if you just want to get away for a few hours to spend time marveling at the local wildlife, smelling the flowers, and breathing in the fresh air.

Wear sturdy and comfy hiking boots or shoes, so you can explore one of the dozen trails that meander through the grounds of the nature center.

If it's easy and quick you prefer, journey along the .07-mile Fox Meadow Trail. You can finish the trail in less than five minutes. However, if you stop to admire the wildlife, you might take a bit longer.

Any time you need to stop for a break or to just sit and admire the natural beauty surrounding you, grab a seat on one of the colorful benches.

Keep an eye out for birds eating in one of the many bird feeders. If you're up for a bit of a hike, set off on the park's longest trail.

The Bluebird Trail clocks in at 1.88 miles and will take you along a field, where nature center activities are often held.

The Latodami Nature Center also hosts events throughout the year, including workshops about local wildlife and clean-up sessions.

The nature center has a small parking lot, which can fill up quickly. If you're going with a few people, you'll probably want to go in the same vehicle, so you can find a parking space.
