Pennsylvania's many trails all offer something special - waterfalls, a boardwalk, and ancient trees, for example. But, few combine art and nature in as spectacular a way as this art trail in Pennsylvania. Meander along the trail alone, or bring the kids, to explore the inspirational art that dots the trail. Even better? You can visit any time of the year, and you're pretty much guaranteed to always discover something new.
The Karl Stirner Arts Trail spans 2.4 picturesque miles through Easton, including 1.75 miles that meander along Bushkill Creek.
Inspired by prolific Pennsylvania artist Karl Stirner, the arts trail "seeks to stir the public imagination and sense of possibility."
So, look for the red arch, named "Untitled," that was created in honor of Stirner and marks the starting point of the popular trail.
Stop to admire the Young Masters Wall, a revolving installation that has welcomed young artists - between four and 70 years - to paint inside individual gold frames.
Debuting in 2012, the Young Masters Wall has featured countless local artists from the Boys and Girls Club of Easton, the Cub Scouts, and more.
Each of the 12 gold frames' art pieces generally remain on display for up to six weeks before another group of artists paint over them with their own work.
And, the arts trail features work by an assortment of other artists as well, such as Patrick Strzelec who created the above piece, Jungle, in 2000.
Of course, the arts trail promises a perfect stroll no matter the time of the year. And, events are hosted along the trail throughout the year.
