Nestled within the city, Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden, created as a "replica of ancient Israel," has provided a peaceful sanctuary for Pittsburghers for 30 years.

Stroll through the breathtaking garden that's home to approximately 100 plants, found in Israel, that either appear in the Bible or feature Biblical names.

Explore the garden that features a new theme each year. The theme for the 2017 season, which runs through mid-September, is "Pleasing God and Man: Taste and Smell- Spices and Incense."

Discover such beautiful spots as a gentle stream, a tumbling waterfall, and even a mini desert, all created in the image of the Holy Land.

Embrace the tranquility at the botanical garden, which welcomes guests from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday through Thursday (through September 15) and Saturdays from noon to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Rodef Shalom Botanical Garden hosts public tours on the first Wednesday of June, July, August, and September. Tours and parking are free.

Or, if you're a member of a group of eight, you can request a guided group tour. Group tours can be reserved from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday.
