Mother Nature has given us so much natural beauty - from mountains and waterfalls to lakes and wild animals. Can you think of anything more beautiful, for example, than a butterfly? How about hundreds of butterflies all taking flight at once? Mark your calendar for this spectacular butterfly release near Pittsburgh that just might leave you in awe.
Experience what just might be the most magical moment of the summer at the Oliver Outdoor Butterfly Release at the Moraine State Park Regatta, set for Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The regatta itself will be held on August 3 and 4, 2019.
Guests can purchase a Monarch butterfly, which they can then release in honor of a loved one who is still here or who has passed away. You can also just release a butterfly for the experience.
A butterfly costs $10, and you can add a loved one's name, which will be read out before the release, to it. (If you want to release a butterfly, you should pre-purchase one as there are a limited number of butterflies.)
On the evening of the butterfly release, you can release your butterfly in private or with the mass release, slated for 6 p.m.
Admission to the butterfly release is free. You do not need to buy a butterfly or to have a ticket to attend.
The butterfly release may be the highlight of the weekend, but plenty of other activities are scheduled during the regatta, such as the canine aquatic competition.
Other regatta weekend highlights include a children's tent, a car cruise, sailing races, cruises, and more.
Address: 225 Pleasant Valley Road, Portersville, PA, 16051
