Whether you hike all or part of the trail, you'll definitely want to keep an eye out for some of the biggest highlights: the bridges, the tunnels, and the viaduct.

At 1,000 feet long, the McDonald Viaduct earns distinction as the longest bridge on the Montour Trail. It also boasts some pretty spectacular views.

Don't forget to bring a flashlight with you (or make sure you download a flashlight app on your smartphone). Those tunnels you can explore are often dark and damp (especially after a rainfall).

Montour Trail will also take you to the Enlow Tunnel and the National Tunnel.

Bring plenty of bottled water and snacks on your hike. You'll also find port-a-potties and water fountains along the trail, making it convenient for you to stop for a break.

The Montour Trail also serves as a launching point for other hikes, linking to The Panhandle Trail, the Great Allegheny Passage, and the C&O Canal Towpath.
