What These 15 North Carolina Photographers Captured Will Blow You Away: Part 6

This week I had so many beautiful submissions. Just scrolling through the submitted photos on the Only in North Carolina Facebook Page is a great reminder of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful state. Last week I asked photographers to send me pictures of places and spaces that made North Carolina home to them. Enjoy this week's selections, a mix of both beautiful buildings and beautiful landscapes.

9. Purple skies

10. Old homes

"One of the nuances I enjoy about NC is the old homes along the roads amidst the fields. This image, "Forgotten" was taken in Bennettsville." -Tric Priest Zyzyk

11. Garden art

"Airlie Gardens, Wilmington" -Marion Mersch

12. Church in the woods

"Beautiful church in the woods from Linville." -Sallie Woodring

13. Mighty Sentinel

"This mighty oak in a pasture along the Blue Ridge Parkway has stood guard over this section of High Country for many decades, survived during two centuries and witnessed the transition from one millennium to another. It offers shade in the summer and shelter at times from rain and snow, though I would not want to stand beneath when lighting was present. Grandfather fades to shadow as the sun sinks deeper in the western sky, the cattle don't mind as they finish off their late day feeding. Soon, I will gather my gear, head back to my parked auto, and drive back to the base of Mineral Springs Mountain where I call home." -Danny Richard Buxton

14. Whale sighting

"My friend, Ed Nelson, captured this awesome shot of a humpback whale coming up to feed on menhaden at Cape Lookout a couple of weekends ago." -Michelle Mulchi

15. Hot air balloon

"Asheville, NC this weekend." -Donna Helms Flowers
