The Beautiful State Park Where You Can View The Best Fall Foliage In New York

If you are in the Finger Lakes this fall, you are going to want to check out the leaf peeping action over at Stony Brook State Park. Even if you aren’t in the Finger Lakes region, it might just be worth making the drive. Why? The foliage at Stony Brook is incredible. Though the park is great in the spring and summer, it really comes alive when the leaves start changing. We think that it might just be the best state park for fall foliage in the Finger Lakes. To learn more about this park, keep reading, below.

Stony Brook State Park is located on Route 36 South in Dansville, New York.

The park features three different hiking trails, all of which are roughly one mile long, with stairs.

The park also features three beautiful waterfalls.

The Gorge Trail is considered the least strenuous and the most scenic, so it would be perfect for taking in the fall colors.

The Rim Trails are a bit more of a climb, but they do look over waterfalls and rock formations.

For those who want to camp, there are 88 campsites, 8 cabins and one group campsite available. The campground doesn’t have electric or water, though there are public restrooms.

A trip through the park will reward viewers this fall with some of the most vibrant, intense colors in all of New York State.

Look: fall is fleeting. Before one can blink their eyes, the trees will have become bare and the snow will have started to fall. It will be cold and miserable outside and we will all be curled up in our homes watching television. That should be a reminder for all of us that we shouldn't take this amazing season for granted: we should go out and live—not just a little, but a lot. And what is better way of living in the fall than taking a look at the colors that define the season? A trip to Stony Brook State Park will be life affirming, so do it before it's too late. And while in the Finger Lakes region, why not stop off for brunch at the Cider House in Interlaken? And, for those looking for a place to stay in the general Dansville area, we recommend the Country Inn & Suites, Mount Morris, which is around 15 miles away.
