Tucked away within a small town in Upstate New York, the Wilton Wildlife Preserve is a serene outdoor space that's worth exploring any time of year.
With over 2,400-acres of preserved land and more than 20-miles of interconnecting hiking trails - this place is pure bliss for any adventurer to explore.
You'll find more than one access point to the park, with everything from observation areas to sit down and relax inside of to a fire tower that you can hike to reach even greater views of the park.
With so many miles of trails to explore, you could easily spend the entire day walking through the woods here - and don't worry, the trails are all marked very well!
As you're walking through the park though and noticing all the different kinds of wildlife that call this special space in New York home, you'll most likely quickly begin to make note of the sea of colors here during the spring and summer.
Something many people may not know about the Wilton Wildlife Preserve is the fact that it's home to the largest population of Blue Karner Butterfly in the Northeast.
In late April, the eggs begin to hatch and you'll slowly but surely start to see these miniature little butterflies swarm the flowers and fields of the park.
Attracted to things like the blue lupine and other vibrant flowers that thrive here, it's a magical outdoor adventure every time you visit the Wilton Wildlife Preserve.
