While I personally love hiking with my toddler in tow, for this particular rail trail, I’d lean towards tweens and teens, as it's quite long. And, while the path is perfect for biking, it is also good for skating.

Some visitors may want to tackle short sections for a leisurely afternoon walk, while others prefer to spend an entire day biking the route between communities. Because the trail grade remains relatively gentle, most travelers consider it easy to moderate in its difficulty. However, I think it’s moderate! And, beginners can comfortably enjoy shorter outings. But, those who love a good bike ride (like me!) can still move along the paths at a nice, quick pace.

A typical bike ride on the trail can last anywhere from two to six hours, depending on your chosen section and how often you stop for photos or detours. The beauty of the rail trail lies in its ability to accommodate those who want to move at different paces. Visiting the rail trail in different seasons of the year makes the Adirondack Rail Trail feel like a completely different adventure, and each time you experience it, it is never quite the same.

The Adirondack Rail Trail is very pretty, so you’ll definitely want to bring a camera to get those Instagram-worthy pictures.
