We might write a lot about things to do outside, but we feel that cold weather just as much as you do! That means during the winter it takes some seriously special surroundings to get us up and out the door for an adventure. That's why we love the trails and parks that offer a little something special. The one we're talking about today doesn't have anything all that unique when compared to other local parks, but it sure is beautiful. And when the conditions are right it feels like traipsing through another world!
If there's a more peaceful, calming, and beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors than Mollidgewock State Park in Errol, we haven't seen it!
The park, lying on the shores of the Androscoggin River inside the Thirteen Mile Woods Scenic Area, offers some of the most beautiful views and absolutely incredible fishing!
The river offers lots of opportunities for things like kayaking and canoeing. It's not uncommon to see people fly-fishing, too.
The area offers lots of hiking, too. The trails are lush and green during the spring and summer. And the foliage during the fall is nothing short of epic.
Even wintertime offers a special kind of beauty. The mist rising from the river is a sight you'll want to see.
Which is why we love that the park offers 44 tent sites, including two that are remote.
And, because the park isn't close to any major towns or cities the light pollution is minimal making for some wonderful star gazing.
The park is about three miles from Errol and approximately 28 miles from Berlin. So, make your way and enjoy a few hours or even a few days feeling like you've entered a whole new world.
Mollidgewock State Park is open year-round, but during the off-season the park won't be staffed and comfort stations are typically closed. If you'd like to stay overnight at a campsite the price is about $23. You can learn more about visiting on the New Hampshire State Park website.
