Living in New Hampshire, it's all too easy to take our surroundings for granted. After a while, the stunning mountains, coastline, and even the fall foliage might not stand out to you – so it's important to stop every once in a while and take a moment to appreciate just how lucky we are to live in the Granite State. And what better way to do that than by taking a hike? We have some of the very best hiking trails in the world right here in New Hampshire. A trek on any of these trails is sure to remind you that this is the most beautiful state in the nation.
1. Tuckerman's Ravine Trail, Mount Washington
The trail to the highest peak in New Hampshire is certainly not an easy climb, but it's absolutely spectacular. On your way up you'll pass the beautiful Lake of the Clouds, and once you reach the summit you'll have the best view in the state.
2. Arethusa Falls and Frankenstein Cliff Trail, Crawford Notch State Park
This trail is definitely the tougher route to Arethusa Falls, but it offers a double whammy - beautiful views from the top of the cliffs and then the amazing sight of the waterfall itself.
3. Baldface Circle Trail, White Mountain National Forest
This loop trail in the White Mountain National Forest takes you over not one, but two peaks – North and South Baldface. This hike has plenty of amazing lookouts!
4. White Dot Trail, Mount Monadnock
This is one of the most-hiked mountains in the world, and you'll understand why when you climb it – it's just stunning.
5. Bondcliff Trail, White Mountain National Forest
At 22 miles, this hike is not for newbies. But if you're ready for some serious backpacking, it will reward you with some truly incredible views.
6. Lonesome Lake Trail, Franconia Notch State Park
This moderate hike is only about 3 miles, but the sight of beautiful Lonesome Lake with mountains in the background is unparalleled.
7. Mount Lafayette and Franconia Ridge Trail Loop, Mount Washington National Forest
This 8 mile trail is best reserved for very experienced hikers, who will love the ridgeline hike for its stark, exposed beauty.
8. Mount Major and Brook Trail Loop
This hike, at just under 4 miles, isn't too challenging but offers the reward of a spectacular location overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee.
9. Welch and Dickey Loop Trail, White Mountain National Forest
This four-mile loop trail has incredible views of the White Mountains, and is especially beautiful in the late spring when the wildflowers are in bloom.
10. Gorge Brook Trail to Mount Moosilauke
This beautiful hike up Mount Moosilauke requires stamina but not any extreme climbing, and you'll find plenty of satisfaction in the views along the way and from the summit.
11. West Ridge Trail to Mount Cardigan
This hike gets steep at the end with a bit of a scramble, but all the exposed rock at the top means unobstructed views in every direction.
