Coos County In New Hampshire Has Over 25 Waterfalls To Visit

The most incredible thing about New Hampshire is its sheer beauty. Just one walk around the block can reveal huge trees, mountains, and breezes you just won't find anywhere else. At the very least, it feels that way! Beyond our backyards we love the examples of nature that exist within the forests and mountains. Our favorite? The waterfalls! And Coos County has a ton of them to see! If you are tired of googling "waterfalls near me," here are just a few of our favorites.

1. Lower Ammonoosuc Falls, Carroll

Beautiful any time of year, this waterfall is fed by the Ammonoosuc River. It can be reached by a fairly simple trail that's about a quarter of a mile.

2. Crystal Cascade, , Pinkham Notch

This incredible waterfall is sometimes overlooked. You'll find it just off Tuckerman’s Ravine Trail. You'll probably hear it before you see it. The main drop is over 100 feet!

3. Emerald Pool Falls , Chatham

Perhaps the best known waterfall on this list, we recommend visiting this in the summer when you can swim in the swimming hole fed by the falls. The drop here is smaller than the others, but the fact that you can make it a day trip is fun.

4. Alpine Falls , Gorham

This is a beautiful cascade that features a 60-foot main drop. You can hike here, but ATV-lovers will appreciate that there's a trail allowing them direct access as well. It's best between May and October when the water is flowing, but visit anytime of year to be surrounding by beauty that includes Hemlock trees.

5. Garfield Falls , Pittsburg

This plunge waterfall is fed by the East Branch of the Dead Diamond River. It features a 35-foot drop on the main portion and below it you'll find smaller cascades (and even rapids!) that flow downstream.

6. Beaver Brook Falls , Colebrook

Not to be confused with the Beaver Brook Falls that's located in Cheshire County, this sight is truly magnificent. It features an 80-foot drop that can be seen right from the parking lot. No hiking required!

7. Basin Trail Cascades , Beans Purchase

This waterfall features a cascade with a plunge. The main drop is about 20-feet, but even though it might not be as high as others on this list it's one of the most fun to visit!

8. Eagle Cascade , Beans Purchase

Located in the White Mountain National Forest, this waterfall will require some work to reach. There's a 2.5-mile hike to get you there, but keep in mind that you probably won't be able to see the full falls from the trail.

9. Giant Falls, Shelburne

The main drop on this beauty is about 80-feet, but it seems to always loo different. Depending on the season and the weather, the falls might be just a drip or a roaring, raucous time! You can access it using the Peabody Brook Trail.

10. Dixville Flume , Dixville

Located in Dixville Notch State Park, this waterfall might not seem as impressive as others. But it's actually a part of a network that includes a set of three drops in a small flume.
