The Most Romantic Valentine’s Day Hike You’ll Find in Nevada

Love is in the air… can you feel it? With Valentine’s Day hovering around the corner, you might already have your plans set in motion. And if those plans include a candlelit dinner, a bottle of wine, and chocolates, then you’re all set. But for some of us, we like to step outside the norm and do something different. If this sounds like you, then I’ve got just what you need!

This Valentine’s Day, come with me to Lone Mountain for a romantic hiking trail in Las Vegas, Nevada. For me, nothing screams romance more than watching the sunrise or the sunset. There is just something quite enticing about seeing the colorful hues painting the sky. And if I can enjoy that fleeting moment with my special someone, then I am in heaven. 

You can do that and more when you trek to the summit of Lone Mountain. Don’t let the name fool you, Lone Mountain is the perfect place for couples. This two-mile out-and-back hike features the best views of the Las Vegas Valley and the rolling hills in the backdrop. 

Due to some rocky areas and steep inclines, the hike can be a bit challenging, especially if you’re a beginner. Just be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes — trust me, you’re going to need them. But you'll be glad to know that the trail is well-marked and easy to navigate.

As you trek to the summit, you will come across some surprises along the way. Didn’t I mention that love is in the air — and chances are, you'll find it on this trail too! 

What I love the most about this hike is that you’ll have expansive views of the city as you trek up the mountain. If you get tired, there are several places where you can stop to rest and also admire the breathtaking views. No matter if you plan your trip in the morning or the evening, you’re in for a real Valentine’s Day treat.

Make memories with your special someone as you sit atop the mountain and welcome the day with a gorgeous sunrise. Or perhaps, plan your hike in the evening, where you can witness the brilliant hues of the sun setting over the mountains. Then stay until dark to admire the twinkling lights of the Vegas Strip. 

You’ll want to bring your camera (or phone!) to capture these special moments with your babe. And if the temperature is a bit chilly, pack a blanket, so that you can cuddle as you watch the vibrant colors dance across the Vegas skies. 

This hike should only take about 90 minutes to complete, so if you have traditional Valentine’s Day plans, you can do that too! You’ll be getting the best of both worlds — a candlelight dinner date and a romantic adventure in nature. Sounds like a dreamy Valentine’s Day to me!
