To find this unique rainforest in Montana, head to Kootenai National Forest of Montana. The Yaak River winds through the forest and the rainforest is found within the Yaak Valley.
This is one of the most biodiverse areas in the state and it's certainly worth a visit.
The rainforest exists due to the lower elevation and high precipitation, including both rain and snow.
Best of all, about 97 percent of the valley is protected as public land, which means development won't ever happen. Keeping the area pristine is a huge priority.
In addition to the beauty of the Yaak Valley, there are tons of wildlife to be found here. Keep an eye out for things like grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, and owls.
This is a beautiful area to explore, no matter what area of the state you're in. Plus, the surrounding town is a great place to spend time.
