This Two-Tiered Waterfall In Montana Is Definitely Worth The Hike
Glacier National Park's Running Eagle Falls Trail offers an easy hike to a unique two-tiered waterfall, perfect for families.
It's hard to describe Glacier National Park unless you've experienced it for yourself. From the incredible lakes and rivers to the exhilarating hiking trails, it's an absolute paradise for nature lovers. The Running Eagle Falls trail is a bit of a trek for anyone using the west entrance to the park, but once you find it, it's an easy hike that leads to a stunning two-tiered waterfall.
The Running Eagle Falls Trail is located near East Glacier Park Village on the east side of the park.
The trailhead is easy to find from the Two Medicine Campground.
The trail itself is only 0.6 miles long, and it's a nice, easy nature walk.
The trail is well-marked and easy to follow, making this an ideal hike for families.
Before long, you'll come to Running Eagle Falls, which sometimes looks like this.
It looks like a waterfall is cascading into another waterfall, offering a double dose of beauty.
A small sink hole in the creek bed above the falls creates this two-falls look, and it's even more beautiful in person.
In fact, this is one of Glacier National Park's most original looking waterfalls.
Of course, water levels vary, and the waterfall never looks the same two days in a row.
That's part of the beauty of it.
Although most people turn around after checking out Running Eagle Falls, you're welcome to continue your hike and explore more of the park.
However, you should definitely pack a lunch and spend plenty of time here. There are a few benches in the area that offer fantastic views.
The Running Eagle Falls Trail is definitely worth checking out the next time you go to Glacier, especially if you're with a family. And while you're there, check out this double waterfall hike as well.
