Sheep's Cave Trail, tucked in Meramec State Park, is an easy trail that tallies just .01 of a mile, making it perfect for even the smallest of explorers.

Before you set off on the trail, make sure you have everything you need for a safe and a fun adventure. Flashlights are a must, so you can easily navigate through the cave.

Some hikers also recommend knee pads. The multi-room cave has spots where, if you want to explore, you'll need to crawl.

When you first enter the cave, however, take a moment to appreciate - especially on a sunny day - the view from inside the cave as you look out.

Since Sheep's Cave Trail is so short, you'll have plenty of time to do some more exploring of Meramec State Park, if you're up for it.
