Be prepared for a challenge along the 5.5-mile trail in Mark Twain National Forest, However, the scenic beauty that awaits is more than worth the effort.

You'll hike through the woods, so be prepared for the bugs and to get scraped up a bit. The trail can be rocky, and it can get slippery after a rain and when you're near the water.

Lower Rock Creek Trail features numerous natural pools, some of which are ideal for wading in to cool down on a hot summer day.

Follow the pink and orange trail markers to stay on the trail. Keep an eye out for snakes, too, which are common in the remote area.
