This Family-Friendly Park In Missouri Has A Nature Center, Gardens, Hiking Trails And More

A family favorite since the 1970s, George Owens Nature Park in Independence offers a full menu of activities on its 86 beautiful acres.

That makes it a prime destination for a family day out in all four seasons. One of the best ways to explore the park is via one of its three hiking trails.

The trails are each short, with all three totalling three miles.

One of those trails is paved, so you should have little problem if you've got a stroller or a wheelchair.

Keep an eye out for local wildlife as you trek through the nature park that offers such surprises as a picturesque footbridge.

Even if you're not up for a hike, you'll still find a ton to do. Go fishing, or stop by the butterfly garden.

The gorgeous lake is an idyllic backdrop for snapping photos.
