When you're in the mood for a relaxing hike that boasts an abundance of beautiful scenery, follow the Dillard Mill Walk in Davisville.
The 1.4-mile out-and-back trail is considered easy for hikers of all ages and of all skill levels. It's usually not too busy either.
Pull your car into the marked parking lot, where you'll find the trailhead for the trail that leads directly to the historic Dillard Mill.
If you're not in a hurry, bring along a picnic as you'll pass a shaded picnic area as you make your way along the trail.
Don't forget your camera, either, as you'll also enjoy such incredible scenery as the shimmering blue Huzzah Creek, a waterfall, and the historic Dillard Grist Mill.
The trail also crosses through the creek, so be prepared to get a bit wet. However, when the creek is swollen, the trail simply becomes inaccessible.
If you get tired during the hike, relax on one of the benches dotted along the trail. Keep an eye out, too, for local wildlife, including beavers, deer, and turkey.
Normally, when you arrive at the historic mill, you can join a guided tour of the mill. (Guided tours are currently closed due to Covid-19.)
