Hike Through Missouri’s Rock Maze, Boulder Ridge Trail, For An Adventure Like No Other

Boulder Ridge Trail in Ha Ha Tonka State Park offers a scenic and less crowded hiking experience with massive boulders and stunning bluffs.

Most Missourians know Ha Ha Tonka State Park for its gorgeous castle ruins, its beautiful blue spring, and its scenic hiking trails. Perhaps one of the lesser-known trails is Missouri's Boulder Ridge Trail. It's a rock maze of sorts, winding along uneven and rocky terrain and past both massive boulders and stunning bluffs. If you're on the hunt for an off-the-beaten-path hiking trail, you've just found it.

Considered an off-the-beaten path trail at Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Camedonton, Boulder Ridge Trail spans just 1.5 miles.

While the trail is considered moderate due to its rocky terrain, it also promises a ton of interesting scenery, including natural boulders.

Follow the red blazes that will keep you on the relatively quiet trail. If you prefer a trail that's not as busy as the other popular trails, like Spring Trail, you'll love this one.

The trail dates back to 1983 and was created to give hikers the opportunity to see Missouri's unique natural terrain. You'll see quite a bit of it, too, including...

Massive sandstone boulders and bluffs. You will have to climb up a pair of stone stairs during your trek, so be prepared for that.

Missouri State Parks also cautions all hikers to watch where you're walking, especially after the fall leaves have dropped.

Make sure you're also prepared for elevation changes and for some rocky terrain. A sturdy pair of hiking boots is highly recommended.

In addition to the gorgeous views of the boulders and bluffs, you'll be treated to jaw-dropping scenes of the Lake of the Ozarks.

You'll have plenty of photo-worthy moments along the trail. You can even bring your pup, as long as he stays on a leash.
