The Unrivaled Canyon Hike In Mississippi Everyone Should Take At Least Once
Red Bluff in Mississippi offers a beautiful and unforgettable canyon hike, often referred to as "Mississippi’s Little Grand Canyon."
Think you have to leave the state for an unforgettable canyon hike? Think again! Mississippi is home to its own version of the Grand Canyon, known as Red Bluff. Clearly, Red Bluff isn’t as massive as its famous counterpart, but what it lacks in size, it definitely makes up for in beauty. Take a look.
Red Bluff is located on Highway 587 in Foxworth, just north of Columbia.
The massive formation, which is made of red clay, soil, sand, and other sediments, stands at 400’ above sea level.
Providing for some spectacular views…
And one unforgettable hike.
Created by the natural erosion of the Pearl River, Red Bluff will continue to get bigger and bigger as time goes on.
The growing canyon was the reason Highway 587 had to be moved….twice.
Although located on private property, locals and tourists have been visiting “Mississippi’s Little Grand Canyon” for years.
Many visitors hike down to the bottom of the canyon to fully take in the magnificent site.
