This Hike In Mississippi Will Give You An Unforgettable Experience

Little Mountain Trail at Jeff Busby Park offers a scenic and accessible hiking experience in Mississippi.

When it comes to hiking in Mississippi, it doesn’t get much better than Little Mountain Trail at Jeff Busby Park. Located along the Natchez Trace Parkway, the park offers a serene setting, camping, and the chance to hike to the second highest point in the state, Little Mountain.

Since Little Mountain Trail is a point to point trail, it can be accessed from two different starting points. Hikers can begin their trek at Jeff Busby Campground or the Little Mountain Overlook.

The entire trip is just under two miles, and is classified as “easy to moderate,” making it suitable for people of all ages.

There is also a loop trail, which begins at the .2 mile post when starting from Little Mountain Overlook. At approximately .5 miles long, this detour is perfect for those who don’t want to hike the entire trail.

The entire trail is clearly marked and well-maintained, which means navigating it is quite easy.

Aside from taking in the beautiful scenery, hikers will have the chance to get up close and personal with the park’s inhabitants.

And of course, see the Magnolia State from a whole new angle. From atop Little Mountain, visibility spans about 20 miles on a clear day.

In addition to the trail, the Jeff Busby Park features an 18-site campground, picnic tables, grills, and restrooms, making it the perfect place for a day trip or an overnight adventure.
