The Underrated Beach With the Whitest, Most Pristine Sand in Mississippi

From the beaches on the Gulf Coast to those tucked away in state parks and campgrounds, the Magnolia State is home to some amazing beaches. One of the best, however, is definitely Old Bridge Beach. A true hidden gem, it’s located in the unincorporated community of New Site. Featuring crystal clear water and some of the whitest, most pristine sand in the state, Old Bridge Beach in Mississippi is the perfect place to cool off on a hot, summer day.

Old Bridge Beach is located just off Highway 4 and Prentiss County Road 3501 in New Site. Featuring a stretch of soft, pristine sand, it's the perfect place for everything from sunbathing to building sand castles.

While there are many reasons that people travel from all over the state to visit Old Bridge Beach, the water is at the top of the list. This Mississippi beach is situated on Bay Springs Lake and has some of the clearest water in the state, making it a great spot for swimming.

A great place to spend the entire day, the beach also includes a playground, fishing pier, restrooms, two covered shelters, picnic tables, grills, outdoor showers, and a volleyball court. No matter who you're visiting with, there's a little something for everyone here!

This beautiful beach is also maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers and can be accessed for a small fee. Currently, the fee is $5 per car and $1 per pedestrian or bicyclist.

Because there truly is so much to love and Old Bridge Beach makes for the perfect day trip in Mississippi, we recommend arriving early each day to claim your spot on the sand. During the week, it is also much quieter than on a summer weekend, but still expect to share the beach — this is a local favorite, after all. And don't forget the essentials, like a beach towel, chairs, and sunscreen!
