The Easy Trail In Mississippi That Will Take You To The Top Of The World

Little Mountain Overlook in Jeff Busby Park offers stunning views and an easy hiking trail.

There are lots of scenic overlooks in the Magnolia State. However, some of the best views can definitely be found at the overlook atop Little Mountain. Even better, there’s an easy-to-navigate trail that leads straight to the scenic spot. Take a look:

Little Mountain Overlook is located in Jeff Busby Park, which can be found at milepost 193.1 on the Natchez Trace.

The park also includes an 18-site campground, picnic tables, and restrooms.

Rated as "easy," Little Mountain Trail is .8 miles long (1.6 miles round trip). And since Little Mountain is the 2nd highest point in Mississippi great views are practically guaranteed.

The trail has starting points at the campground and at Little Mountain Overlook, which means you can drive straight to the overlook if you’d prefer not to hike.

However, the hike does offer the chance to get up close and personal with nature, while escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

At the top of Little Mountain, you’ll find some impressive vistas. On a clear day, visibility spans about 20 miles!

But you'll find more than great views at the top. There’s also an exhibit, which provides info on the surrounding forest, species that once inhabited the area, and more.

For an added bonus, there’s a nature trail near the top of the mountain. The ½-mile loop trail descends into a shady hollow and should only add about 30 minutes to your hike.
