Mississippi is one of those states fortunate enough to have an abundance of lakes. In fact, there are 119 public lakes throughout the state, each offering a unique vantage point and natural allure. But, out of all of these lakes, choosing a favorite can take a lot of work. So, we went ahead and polled our readers on our Only In Mississippi Facebook Page. Which of the lakes do you think our readers have chosen as the most beautiful lakes in Mississippi?

1. Lake Ross Collins, MS

Perhaps one of the smaller lakes on our list, this one is still worth mentioning. Lake Ross Collins is more of a local hang, but people rave about this fishing hotspot. Beyond being very clean and well-maintained, fishing in the lake is relaxing but also exciting!

2. Bay Springs Lake, MS

Bay Springs Lake is a hugely popular reservoir for fishing cold water bass, largely due in part because of the clean, clear water! The lake itself is approximately nine miles long, and is situated on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Mississippi.

3. Pickwick Lake, MS

Many people call Pickwick Lake a slice of paradise in Mississippi. Why? Because it is filled with a wide variety of fish! Crappie, bream, catfish, sauger, and walleye are only a few fish varieties in this reservoir. What’s also fun to note about Pickwick Lake is that it’s one of the very few lakes in the U.S. located in three different states!

4. Enid Lake, MS

As one of four lakes in North Mississippi that is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Enid Lake is quite the place for unwinding for a long weekend. Guests love this lake located on the Yocona River for family camping opportunities, fishing, hiking, and more!

5. Lake Mohawk, MS

Lake Mohawk is a fun recreation area for visitors who enjoy fishing, hiking, swimming, and much more. Clocking in at 149 acres in size, this lake is slightly smaller than most on this list, but still worth noting. The lake garnered its name from the Native American Mohawk tribe.

6. Sardis Lake, MS

Sardis Lake is not only beautiful but it also is filled with fun for visitors of all ages. About an hour’s drive from Memphis Tennessee, this lake offers beach access, fishing, swimming, and even a 13-mile mountain biking trail! What a place to enjoy if you’d an avid outdoors fan or nature lover.

7. White's Creek Lake, MS

Calling all campers! Head on over to White’s Creek Lake in Mississippi to spend a weekend in nature. Make sure to bring your fishing poles, too, as this lake is filled with bass, bream, catfish, and crappie. Located in the quaint town of Europa Mississippi, this place is perfect for great sunsets and open water.

8. Lake Washington, MS

Anglers throughout the American Southeast congregate at Lake Washington, thanks to the bevy of channel catfish, bream, crappie, and largemouth bass. But other popular activities at this stunning lake include boating, water skiing, tubing, wildlife watching, and swimming!

9. Lake Charlie Capps, MS

Bass fishing is coveted at Lake Charlie Capps, especially if you can find a decent spot near the towering cattails. But other than that, people who visit this lake can also enjoy some weekend camping, too. Pitch a tent and fall asleep to the soothing sounds of nature in Mississippi.

10. Grenada Lake, MS

Grenada Lake is surrounded by gently rolling hills of trees, like pine and hardwood, smack dab at the entrance of the Mississippi Delta. This lake was originally constructed to help control flooding along the Yazoo River but now has become a haven for crappie anglers.
