One incredible thing I love about the state of Michigan is that it is surrounded by four of the five Great Lakes. The state has the nation’s longest freshwater coastline (at 3,288 miles), so you know there will be tons to do on the water, on the coast, or a beach. That makes it an incredible place to visit in the summer (especially in July). With all of the coastlines and natural spots, there are seemingly endless ways to enjoy a beach or boating summer in Michigan – both in the Upper Peninsula and Michigan Lower Peninsula proper.

I love the vibe of Ann Arbor, so if you've never spent much time in this college town, this July festival in MI is the place to be. The Ann Arbor Art Fair is a renowned event that showcases the work of artists from around the country. Explore the streets of downtown Ann Arbor filled with art booths, live music, food vendors, and interactive activities -- all while taking in the culture of this awesome community!

9. Charlevoix Venetian Festival (Charlevoix) - July 20 to July 27

If you haven't seen many boat parades in Michigan, but if you'd love the chance, then head to the Charlevoix Venetian Festival! There is a kind of magical atmosphere at the festival, with boat parades, fireworks, live music, and a full-blown carnival.
