There are a lot of different ways to enjoy the outdoors in Maine, but getting out for a hike is one of our favorites. And the biggest draw to a local hike is when the trail is easy, the air is fresh and the destination is one of the cutest and most lovely little waterfalls in the region. The next time you’re in search of adventure, head to Baxter State Park to enjoy this route!
We all know that Maine's Baxter State Park is one of the best places to access inland nature, but it can be hard to choose the best way to enjoy it. When we're looking for something simple with a great payoff, we love Little Abol Falls trail.
The out-and-back route is about 1.8 miles, which makes it simple to do in just an hour or two.
When you arrive at the trail off of Park Tote Road, you'll find parking and a marker leading to the starting point.
Depending on the season, you'll either find the lush greens of spring and summer or snow-covered branches in the winter. And, of course, fall foliage is incredible here!
As you make your way to the end of the trail, you'll be following a lovely little brook.
And as you get closer you're likely to hear the rush of the waterfall.
Get excited because this little cutie certainly does impress.
Spend some time enjoying the view before turning around and heading back the same way you came!
